Each Foundations and Trends® journal publishes exclusively long (± 100 pages) review and tutorial papers.
If you intend to write, or are in the process of writing, a paper that fits within the format and scope of a Foundations and Trends® journal, we will be pleased to hear from you. In the first instance, send an abstract, table of contents and a list of references on which the work is based for initial review to the editor-in-chief or publisher. This will be assessed to determine, in the opinion of the editor-in-chief, if the topic fits the scope of the journal and that the authors are capable of producing a manuscript of sufficient quality. A preliminary acceptance will follow if it meets these criteria.
On submission the manuscript will be assigned to an editorial board member who will shepherd the manuscript through a full peer review process. Up to 3 reviewers will look at the manuscript. The reviews will concentrate on the completeness and clarity of exposition. Technical issues will also be covered. Any reason for recommending not to publish the work will also be given.
The board member will assess the reviews and communicate any required changes to the authors or, if necessary, reject the manuscript. The authors and board member will iterate until the manuscript can be accepted for publication.
Once you have received preliminary acceptance, you can submit your full manuscript. Visit the Author Instructions page of the journal you want to submit to for more information.
